The new AL1 is a contemporary aluminum-cased shredder with high quality synthetic side panels. Its hardened steel cutting shafts create security level 4 shred and easily take staples, paper clips and credit cards. The cutting shafts come with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer and can take up to 9 to 11 sheets of paper at one time at a rate of 27 feet per minute. The AL1 shredder's motor is quiet yet powerful and its gears are neatly stored in a dust-proof enclosure. The powerful shredder is surprisingly compact and convenient, at only 23 3/4" tall with a 6 1/2 gallon shred bin. Like all Destroyit shredders, the AL1 doesn't compromise functionality and cutting edge features. With the "SPS" (Safety Protection System), the electronically controlled shield covering the feed opening prevents anything from being accidentally shredded. It also cuts off the power when the shield is lifted to ensure the user's safety. The AL1 also has "ESM" (Energy Saving Mode) which puts the shredder into a sleep state after 1 hour of inactivity so electricity isn't wasted. It has a sensory fill level control that detects when the shred bin is full and cuts the power off as well as double protection against overheating. Photo cell technology detects when there is paper to be shredded, automatically starting and stopping the shredder so it is only on when needed. The revamped "Easy Switch 2" control element uses LED-lit icons and color codes to indicate operational status, such as full bin, open cabinet door and paper jam, and allows for quick feed reversal and power cut-off.
