Quick Overview of Destroyit Model 4605 Cross Cut Shredder
The Destroyit 4605 cross cut, high capacity shredder is large and powerful, yet leaves a relatively small footprint. It stands at 67” tall but has a smaller base, taking advantage of space by building up. Its hardened steel blades can shred materials such as hardbound documents and CDs at security level 3 and can handle 50 to 60 sheets of paper at a rate of 40 feet per minute through its massive 18” feed opening. The 4605’s cabinet is mounted on heavy duty casters and opens through the front. Inside is the mobile shred bin that can hold up to 61 gallons of shred volume and allows for easy replacement of disposable shred bags. It features a 3 phase motor, rated for continuous operation and housed in dust-proof enclosure. Its top-loading feed hopper takes bulky materials, like crumpled up papers, and positively feeds them into the cutting head using the special rotating paddle. However, it does have a regular feed opening for flat paper as well. It even has a fold away feed table that doesn’t need to be used all of the time.Even on a large shredder like the Destroyit 4605, the control panel is fairly simple. A main power switch and emergency stop button are present, as well as soft-touch control keys for forward/continuous operation, stop and reverse. The standard opening for paper is controlled by a photo cell for automatic start and stop. In the event of overfeeding and thus, a paper jam, the feed will automatically be reversed and then shut off. Power will also be cut if the cabinet door is opened or when the shred bin is full. The control panel also has optical indicators that light up to show operational status, such as paper jam or shred bin full.
