The 16” feed opening is wide enough to accommodate papers in a variety of shapes and sizes and the shred bin holds an impressive 59 gallons of shred volume so frequent emptying is not an issue. The high quality wooden cabinet is mounted on casters for convenience and houses a pull-out bag mechanism on rollers for easy replacement of the disposable shred bags. The 4005 shredder has a powerful single phase motor rated for continuous operation and its sturdy chain drive and gears are neatly stored in a dust-proof enclosure. The hardened steel cutting shafts are powerful enough to easily go through staples, credit cards, paper clips and CDs. Fortunately, the Destroyit 4005 comes standard with a special automatic oil injection system that determines when the shredder needs oiling and then oils the machine for you, removing dust and shred debris that could slow down the shredding process. The “SPS” (Safety Protection System) package involves a transparent protective shield that covers the feed opening to prevent anything but intended materials from entering. To ensure the user’s safety, the shredder quickly shuts off if the shield is lifted. Also, the 4005 has the “ECC” (Electronic Capacity Control) feature, which measures and displays how hard the shredder is working to handle the sheet load and helps prevent paper jams. The “Easy Switch” is a control feature that not only allows for quick feed reversal and shut off with its oversized buttons but also uses LED-lit colored icons to display operational status. If a paper jam, full shred bag or open cabinet door occurs, shutting off the shredder, the Easy Switch will indicate what the problem is.
