The Destroyit 2270 cross cut shredder brings a new and useful element into deskside models- a separate shredding compartment for CDs. In addition to its 8 ¾” throat width for paper shredding, the 2270 has a separate feed opening particularly for CDs. The regular feed has a sheet capacity of 5 to 6 sheets. The integrated collection tray keeps the two types of shred separate, with a 5 gallon shred bin for paper and the separate shred bin for CDs, holding approximately ¾ gallon of plastic shred volume. A convenient window in high quality wooden cabinet allows the user to see how full the bin is and when it needs to be emptied. Also, the shredder automatically turns off when the shred bin is removed from the cabinet for safety. The 2270 houses a powerful and quiet single phase motor inside of a dust-proof enclosure in the cabinet and has double protection against overheating.

The automatic start and stop of the Destroyit 2270 is controlled by a photo sensor. It also has a single, multi-function control element for standby, stop (off) and reverse. The transparent safety shield covers the feed opening so only materials intended for shredding can get in. Destroyit’s cutting shafts are made from high quality hardened steel and can take staples, paper clips, credit cards, and, of course, CDs.
